Google Adwords in Iran

Iranian government recently ordered Internet filtering committee to block all the Google ads in order to cut Google’s revenue from the search market of Iran after the tensions raised between Iran and the giant search engine over removing Persian Gulf term from Google Maps. Government believes the United States based company makes millions of Dollars annually from streaming advertisements for Iranian users. This decision has made many problems for local and small businesses that target their customers and clients via Google Adwords product.

Ali Hakim Javadi one of the top officials of Internet in Iran said the Information Technology Organization is negotiating with filtering committee to unblock Google ads for users. “Currently there are not any notable restrictions applied by our side on Google’s products except Google Adwords. Base on some studies, we figured out that these ads don’t result in impure content so we are talking with Internet filtering committee to unblock this service for users.” Said Ali Hakim Javadi Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Technology and The head of Information Technology Organization of Iran.

Google Adwords is one of the cheapest and best marketing channels for Iranian businesses to attract more customers online.
