Arabs are not happy with Persian Gulf Domain Extension

Asia Green IT System Bilgisayar San. ve Tic. Ltd. Sti. has applied for several domains’ extensions via ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) including: NOWRUZ, PARS, PERSIANGULF, SHIA, HALAL and ISLAM. After a long time ICANN announced accepting applicants for new generic top-level domains and Asia Green IT System company has sent several applications for the center.

Mehdi Abbasnia, the CEO of Asia Green IT System company, said the corporation has filed applications for some strings to support Iranian people. “We have applied for .PersianGulf, .Pars and .Nowruz in order to support Iranians. In the first phase of assessment, ICANN has asked Internet users to express their support or disagreement to the applications. People can go and submit their comments in ICANN’s website. These comments and supports are very important factor for ICANN to determine the status of an application.”

“At this moment Arabs are trying hard to show their disagreement on .PersianGulf extension by leaving negative feedbacks. I request all the Iranians to express their support for .PersianGulf through ICANN’s website.” Mehdi Abbasnia added.

The Persian Gulf is located in Western Asia between Iran (Persia) and the Arabian Peninsula. It is an extension of the Indian Ocean. Historically and internationally known as the Persian Gulf, this body of water is sometimes controversially referred to as the Arabian Gulf or simply The Gulf by most Arab states, although neither of the latter two terms are recognized internationally.
