Iran Boycotts Academy Award

Iranian Culture Minister Mohammad Hosseini announced his country is going to boycott the next Oscar over anti-Islam movie broadcasted a few weeks ago on YouTube.

However the officials of Oscar said they have yet to receive the formal cancellation letter from Iran.

“The recent anti-Islam movie produced in the United States stabbed Iranian people sentiments and angered many Muslims in all over the world. We have received many requests from artists and directors to ban the upcoming Oscar because it is going to be held inside United States and the insulting movie was also produced there. We decided to boycott this competition and we request other Islamic countries to do the same.”Mohammad Hosseini said.

“A Cube of Sugar” is the name of the Iranian movie applied for Academy Award but Iranian government wants to cancel its nomination. The movie is a 2011 Iranian drama film directed by Seyyed Reza Mir-Karimi. The story happens in an old house in an old city of Iran. Because of the wedding of the youngest sister, Pasandide, all of her sisters come to their old house to help their mother. Negar Javaherian, Rima Raminfar, Saeid Pursamimi, Parivash Nazarieh, Reza Kianian and Hedayat Hashemi are the A-list cast of the film.
