Saeid Ghadimi, a top official of Iran’s education ministry, said his country is going to improve its Chinese language courses and resources. Iran has very close ties with China in different fields from politics to culture.
“We have a unique relation with China in different areas. The high volume trades between Iran and China has created a great opportunity for us to study and expand Chinese language. We have less than 100 students in our local universities studying Chinese language. We are going to expand the presence of Chinese language in the next 5 years.” Saeid Ghadimi said.
He also called for improvement of Arabic language courses in universities and confessed than Iran is behind from other countries in language field.
It’s worth noting that Iran–China trade value reached $45 billion in 2011 and is expected to increase to $50 billion by 2012. About 2,000 Chinese now live in Tehran and 40 Chinese companies relocated to Iran. Recently, Tehran has experienced the introduction of Chinese restaurants into cultural life.
