According to the new report released by Cafe Bazaar website, Iranian clients use more updated version of Android OS in compare to worldwide users. Cafe Bazaar is a Google Play like website operating in Iran. Since Google restricted the access of Google Play services for Iranian users according to U.S. sanctions, Cafe Bazaar has introduced the same service for locals.
Base on statistics extracted from thousands of users in Cafe Bazaar, Gingerbread is the most popular version of Android OS by having 58% of market share in the country while this number is 55.8% for worldwide users. Ice Cream Sandwich version comes second accounting 27%. The share of same version is only 23.7% between international users.
Iranians mostly use unlocked smart phones so they don’t need to wait to upgrade their operating systems through mobile operators. In many countries users buy phones with 12 or 24 months contract but none of mobile operators in Iran support these deals.
A great number of imported tablets and smart phones to Iran support Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich versions of Android so these are among the most popular versions of Google’s Android OS.
