Iran national football team defeated South Korea in last night. Javad Nekounam, the captain of Iran, had promised to turn the Azadi stadium into a hell for South Korea and he definitely did. The former player of Osasuna FC scored the winning goal for Team Melli on 75′ and helped Iran to win an important match against its archrival South Korea.
“I was not thinking about scoring goal in this match. I only concentrated on the winning of Iran team. I have played many times for Team Melli but this goal was a special one and I’m very happy with that. I’m confident that Iran national team will qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and there should not be any concern about this.” Javad Nekounam told reporters after the match.
Iran reduced to 10 men when Masoud Shojaei, the midfielder of Iran, sent off the match by referee after picking up the second yellow card. Nekounam and his teammates played very well in this game and beat South Korea with only 10 men.
Javad Nekounam debuted for Iran national football team on 2000 and he has played 132 times for Team Melli scoring 32 goals.From 2006 to 2012 he played for Osasuna in La Liga. Recently the Spanish news papers have criticized the officials of this club over loosing Javad. Nekounam is currently a member of Tehran based club, Esteghlal FC.
