King Salman Hosts Qatari Emir

Saudi Arabia’s new King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud received on Tuesday Emir Shaikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani the Qatari Emir in Saudi Arabia’s capital of Riyadh.

The visit by the Qatari Emir was his first to hold discussions with King Salman who took over as King of Saudi Arabia on January 23 after the death of King Abdullah his brother.

Shaikh Tamim represents the third leader from the Gulf Cooperation Council to visit King Salman in the same number of days.

On Sunday, the Saudi King received Shaikh Sabah Al Ahamd Al Jabar Al Shabh the Kuwaiti Emir for talks focused on regional issues and the most recent developments, said the new agencies from both countries.

King Salman on Monday received United Arab Emirates leaders who represented a delegation visiting the Saudi capital.

Shaikh Tamim last week received Mohammad Bin Nayef a Saudi Prince in Doha the capital of Qatar. According to the official news agencies, Tuesday’s meeting is to review relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar and how to enhance them in different fields.

The leaders spoke about the international and regional situation and exchanged opinions on issues of a common concern, said official reports.

In December, Qatar hosted the GCC annual summit following a settlement of the worst crisis diplomatically to hit the GCC alliances since 1981 when it was first established. THE GCC is comprised of the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Qatar

The summit was only made possible after countries in the GCC endorsed an agreement, which was able to iron out the differences and define the common approach to all issues that have a common interest.

The accord was received, thanks to a crucial role played by the late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

With the drop in prices of oil, the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Syria and now the problems with IS moving into Libya, the leaders will have more than enough to talk about during their short meetings.
