Tractor Sazi FC defeated Tehran based club, Esteghlal FC, during an important match from Iran Pro League competition. Majid Saleh, the coach of Esteghlal, said the main reason of this loss to Tractor Sazi FC was Team Melli. Iran national football team recently won over South Korea in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. Carlos Queiroz, the head coach of Team Melli, broke IPL competitions for three weeks and he called up many players from Esteghlal FC.
“The presence of our players including Seyyed Mehdi Rahmati and Javad Nekounam (who scored winning goal for Iran) in Team Melli’s camp was the main reason of our loss to Tabriz based club.” said Majid Saleh, the assistant coach of Esteghlal FC. Amir Ghalenoei, the head coach, was unable to attend this game due to surgery on his knee. “We didn’t have Amir Ghalenoei and definitely it hurt us. However we received technical recommendations and tactical changes after finishing the first half from him via telephone.” Majid Saleh added.
“We applied some changes in the second half and they paid off. But our players couldn’t score the equalizer goal so Tractor Sazi FC scored the second goal by using a fast counter attack. Tractor Sazi is one of the most powerful sides in Iran Pro League and we had expected a hard game against them.” Majid Saleh added. He also praised Azeri fans for their supports.
