Mohammad Reza Aref, a reformist politician, believes the mismanagement of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government resulted into the current crisis in Iran’s economy which caused the dropping of Iranian Rial value against foreign currencies.
“The outcomes of current government are completely clear. Currency prices and the conditions of Iran’s economy are among those results. Of course Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government has achieved several positive objects but they are minimal in compare to its failures.” Mohammad Reza Aref said talking to local news agencies.
Aref didn’t refuse his candidacy for the next presidential election in Iran which is scheduled to be held on upcoming Persian year. “I may announce my candidacy formally if I don’t see any notable nominee. However currently there are several perfect politicians want to compete for the presidential election but I will talk about that in future.”
“I will definitely cancel my plans if Mohammad Reza Khatami or Akbar Rafsanjani announce their candidacies.” He added.
Mohammad Reza Aref is an Iranian academic, electrical engineer and politician and a professor at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran. From 2001 to 2005, he was the Vice President of Iran under President Mohammad Khatami. He was succeeded by Parviz Dawoodi.
